Teeth

This movie had me pleading, outloud, “don’t eat that dick!”... several times… in a good way?

 

Teeth is a quirky dark comedy, directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein.  Dawn (Jess Weixler) is a teenage spokesperson for her high school chastity club.  She is just as unfamiliar with her own body as she is with boys.  She suppresses her sexuality, but still finds herself the victim of sexual violence - in the form of several male classmates, and an unusually volatile stepbrother (John Hensley).  Luckily for Dawn, relatively early on in the film, she discovers that she is the owner of a toothed vagina - vagina dentata.  She drops her purity ring over a cliff and slowly begins to learning how to use her new “talent” to get back at the men who have wronged her.

Probably the most adorable movie you will find about genitalia with teeth.  Despite whatever terrible things happen to her, Dawn finds a way to prevail and use her lady power for good.. sort of.  Teeth is most famously known for a scene in which Dawn is assaulted by her gynecologist (Josh Pais) - resulting in the poor old doctor losing four of his fingers.  It’s is a fun, unconventional, plain ole’ wacky movie.  Well acted, well edited, well shot - I have no complaints.  Plus, I’m a sucker for feminist horror.  Coming in right under the top 10 mark, Teeth, currently at #11.
